CityZen – A Reunion With Class
The only thing better than a great meal for its own sake is a great meal shared with friends. I recently had an opportunity to do that in Washington D.C. when I organized a mini-reunion dinner with some college classmates [...]
The Irony of an Ending – Four Aces Diner
My alma mater, Dartmouth College, is a wonderful place to get a great education and a great place to spend four years. My eldest son, L.J. Sconzo, an occasional contributor to this blog, just graduated after four mostly wonderful years. I say [...]
Happy Halloween!!!
I noticed this detail within one of my recent bonfire photos at Dartmouth College’s 2011 Homecoming celebrations. I found it a little spooky. Happy Halloween!!

Sunday Photo – Autumn Fire
The leaves have stayed on the trees late this autumn here in upstate NY and in northern New England as well, yet they lack the brilliant colors of most autumns. However, what was lacking in the leaves was present this [...]

Yes, cereal. Not just any cereal, though. Frankly, I don't care for most cereals on the market. They are generally too high in carbs and simple sugars for my taste and either lack good texture or good taste. [...]
Elements – The TypePad Dinner Part 2: The Balance
…and with the preliminaries behind us, we moved on to the main body of the dinner. We learned that the chefs source organically, sustainably and locally "whenever possible", especially within a 50 mile radius, though they do not [...]
Elements – The TypePad Dinner Part 1: Small Plates
As a graduate of Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H., it is exceedingly difficult for me to admit that there may be anything of extreme excellence in Princeton, N.J. Well, I must say that there is at least one institution of excellence in that burgh and that would be Elements, the relatively new creative contemporary restaurant with Ryland Inn alumnus Scott Anderson commanding the kitchen.
