My Big News – A Major Life Change!

To those of you who know me, this may not be a huge surprise. To others, well, what can I say? Perhaps not so apparent here on the blog, but if you also happen to follow my Instagram feed,  you may be aware of how much I enjoy making and yes, occasionally even drinking cocktails. My career in Medicine is making cocktails of a different sort, though ultimately with less pleasure for those partaking of them. That is to be expected I suppose, since those people are actually undergoing surgery.

I’m not getting any younger and I feel that one must do what one must do. As a result, I will be leaving the practice of Medicine to open a new cocktail bar. I’m working on a space and a name as well as talking to various individuals who may be involved. Further news will be forthcoming. I hope that you can share my excitement!

There is nothing quite like promulgating an April Fool’s joke to make one feel gleefully evil. A good joke (this may or may not be one) should have some semblance of believability to it. In this case, I really do enjoy playing with creating (and drinking) cocktails, but I have too much respect for those who are truly masters of the craft to put myself in their league. It is a fun occasional pass time for me, but nothing more. The real truth is I enjoy my job as an Anesthesiologist and the people I work with too much to leave it behind. In reality, I know that I’m a lucky guy with a great family, a great job and the wherewithal to enjoy a life in the world of food and beverage that few get to experience. I apologize if there was actually anyone hoping for this news to have been true. 🙂

Wow, this is big news! But one should follow their dreams and we are not getting any younger… Look at me, riding horses and getting paid (a fantasy from younger years) — an opportunity arose and at 58 there was no time to lose! Happy for you and I will be sure to stop in to take the ache out after work. 🙂

People say believe half of what you see, and none of what you hear. Especially on April 1. 🙂
