Draft Manhattans at The Cannibal at Gotham West Market

I make no secret that I enjoy a good, well made cocktail now and again. I enjoy creating them myself and I enjoy the work of others.. Typically, that means a hand crafted beverage, put together a la minute. Last week, I stopped in at the new Gotham West Market in New York City and visited The Cannibal amongst a couple of other places. I am a huge fan of Chef Francis Derby’s beef jerky and stopped by to pick some up. In the meantime, I noticed that they were pouring a couple of draft cocktails – Negronis and Manhattans – two favorites when well made. They are also two cocktails that somehow, despite being relatively straight forward, are all to often screwed up. I was curious as to how well these two pre-mixed (but still handmade) draft cocktails would hold up. Given their provenance, I can’t really say that I was surprised, but I was very pleased. Both the Negroni and the Manhattan were made in a classic style, were well balanced and downright dangerously delicious making for a great start of the holiday season!
