Sunday Photo – Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall

Today is the Autumnal Equinox, the official dividing line between summer and fall. Where I live the signs are unmistakable. The air gets crisper. the leaves start taking on ever brighter colors and the produce at the market begins to evolve. There is still plenty of summer fare – we even still have peaches – but the autumn produce is becoming ever more present. I love the arrival of the beautiful ornamental cabbages. They embody the ennui that is autumn – beautiful and delightful, but a harbinger of colder and darker times on the way as the nights get longer and the daylight begins to shrink. It is all part of the circle of life.
