The 2013 Bocuse d’Or competition takes place this week in Lyon, France. Considered by many to be the premiere culinary competition in the world, it is an intense battle, of skill, ingenuity, resourcefulness, stamina and will unlike anything else out there. Taking place in front of several thousand multi-national screaming fans, the atmosphere is chock full of tension and energy. The competition has been dominated in recent years by the Scandinavians and the French before them. The United States has never mounted the podium here, its best finish coming twice in the 6th spot. This year, however, may be the USA’s best chance to date. With increased dedication, experience and funding, the stage is set for Candidate Richard Rosendale, Executive Chef Of The Greenbrier Hotel in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia and his Commis, Corey Siegal, to do just that, competing on Wednesday, January 30th. Rosendale, a Certified Master Chef, has major culinary competition experience including three gold medals as Captain of the 2008 ACF Culinary Olympic Team USA.  Here, Rosendale and Siegel are supported by Team USA coaches Gavin Kaysen, Grant Achatz and Gabriel Kreuther as well as Bocuse d’Or USA Foundation Board members Thomas Keller, Daniel Boulud and Jerome Bocuse.
