Sunday Photo – Thanksgiving Fun

The cameras were out in force!

When one thinks of Thanksgiving, it is often the food that is the first thing that comes to mind. Great food is certainly something that I am thankful for and it clearly is a huge part of the day, but it wouldn’t be nearly as great without sharing it with family and friends.  This year was no exception as we had the pleasure of having all of our sons home and good friends to partake of it with. Between Maricel Presilla’s incredible tamales and flan, Tom  and Amy Persons’ fabulous shrimp cebiche and a variety of potatoes, Elizabeth Persons’ delightful, home-made Kit-Kat bars, Suzanne Carreker-Voigt’s scrumptious emu and bacon skewers and creamed spinach and our own Big Green Egg finished Mithrandir Farm turkey rubbed with an almendrina molé paste from Cholula, Mexico, the same paste fully reconstituted as a gravy, roasted sweet potatoes, grilled brussels sprouts in pesto, stuffing, cranberry sauce, kale and pomegranate salad and my wife’s pies we had more than enough to fill our bellies and our souls, yet it was the warm companionship that made the afternoon and evening so extra-special (the cocktails and wines didn’t hurt either).

Super scrumptious. No one left hungry! However, I can’t say this photo is very complimentary.
