Sunday Photo – Fish Monger on Elba

The small, but historically significant island of Elba lies off the coast of Tuscany. It also happens to be an island of personal significance as it was the birthplace of Giovanni Sconzo, a sea captain and ancestor, who in the the late 1700’s left there to settle in Palermo, Italy. For this reason, it was a central part of my visit to Italy with my son. Seafood is a major component of the cuisine and it was a major component of what we ate including some purchased from this lovely lady and her family. There will be much more to come on our wonderful visit to Elba. Stay tuned!
