The 2012 Bocuse d’Or USA Finals held at The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y. was a great competition. It was won by the team of Richard Rosendale and Corey Siegel, but in reality, all of the contestants were winners. The refrain I heard repeatedly from the judges was how impressed they were with each of the candidates. They all held up under great pressure. Not only did the food they produced look great, it tasted delicious, as well. I hope my slide show of my photos from last Sunday do a little justice for all the hard work done by the likes of Team Cerqueda (Danny Cerqueda and Marianne Elyse Warrick of the Carolina Country Club in Raleigh, N.C.), Team Lizotte (Jeffrey Lizotte and Kevin Curley of on2o in Hartford, CT.), Team Rosendale (Richard Rosendale and Corey Siegel of The Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va.) and Team Bradley (William Bradley and James Haibach of Le Cordon Bleu in Southboro, MA.).
The Culinary Institute did a fabulous job hosting the event with a number of Professors participating as judges and volunteers along with many students who worked as volunteers. The Culinary Council of The Bocuse d’Or USA Foundation is composed of a number of this country’s most prominent chefs, many of whom gave of their time and energy to participate in this contest as judges and advisors. They deserve a great round of thanks and bravos for their hard work and dedication. Once again, I hope that my photos have captured some of the spirit of their participation in this exciting event.
Major kudos must go to the Board of Directors of the Bocuse d’Or USA Foundation, especially Jerome Bocuse, Daniel Boulud, Gavin Kaysen and Thomas Keller. They, along with all of their hard-working staff, have put together an amazing organization.
If at all possible, make plans to attend the Bocuse d’Or in Lyon next January and support Team USA. It is a blast!!!
