My good friend, Michael Talalaev, recently spent a few days in one of my favorite cities in the world – Copenhagen. He went there specifically to eat, and though he didn’t get a chance to dine at noma, he did dine at a number of other top Copenhagen restaurants with one in particular making a very profound impression on him. I was very disappointed that Chef Rasmus Kofoed was in between his Geranium restaurants when I was in Copenhagen in August, 2010. That disappointment was even greater when I witnessed Chef Kofoed add the gold to his collection of Bocuse D’Or medals this past January. Michael had that opportunity during his recent Copenhagen visit, which is presented here via his Flick’r stream.

Geranium is a restaurant in the league of its own – I can say it is phenomenal, extraordinary, unique and use any other superlative adjective there is, and yet it wouldn’t do this magnificent place any justice.
Geranium was, and by a large margin, the best meal of my entire life up to this point – bar none.
The restaurant is inspired and led by Chef Rasmus Kofoed, the first person to have competed in the Bocuse D’Or competition three times, and the winner of the Bronze, Silver and Gold Bocuse D’Or trophies ( an accomplishment unsurpassed by anyone else at the present moment, to the best of my knowledge). Regardless of any trophies, Chef Kofoed prepares dishes refined in technique, presentation and taste balance, and are as close to the point of perfection as any food can possibly be.
Needless to say, the service and the beverage selection at Geranium matches the level of food served at the restaurant.
Simply the best meal I have ever had – there is nothing else to say.
