Taste of the Week – August 9-15

No, these were not the most wonderful shrimp that I have ever eaten, though they were good. What is notable about them, is that they are the first shrimp of any size that I have ever seen in a market near where I live with their heads still on. Purchased at the new Asian Market in Colonie, N.Y., I cooked them with garlic, pimenton, olive oil, chilis, curry leaves and salt and served them with a fresh crusty baguette – yum!

Usually, I would peel the shrimp first, but since they still had their heads I decided to leave the shells on. Though it made eating the shrimp more of a chore, I do believe that the shells added flavor. I loved sucking out the heads. We had some left-over and they were even better the next day.
