This weekend's blizzard caused a lot of hassles and wreaked havoc for many including myself and my family. A family get together to celebrate the Christmas holiday ultimately split in two with one occurring at my home as originally planned with the locals and another in N.J. for those intelligently not venturing north. Since we were all to be contributing food items, both parties had plenty of good food. Together, the amount of food would have been insane. The southerners had the Italian salumi, the fresh mozzarella, shrimp cocktail and the Italian pastries. We had the Winterpoint oysters, Nantucket scallops, pasta with fresh clam sauce and roast suckling pig. Nobody went hungry.
Today, with the clean-up out of the way, my family and I finally had a chance to enjoy the snow a bit. With at least a foot and a half on the ground and more still in the air, travel was not in the cards. Fortunately, we have some nice woods on our property and a few of us went out snowshoeing.
Plenty of leftovers for dinner tonight. Hopefully the snow and the roads will be clear tomorrow and allow for travel over the holidays.
